SFJAZZ is proud to celebrate Women's History Month, first with a dedicated concert series, March 9-18 in Joe Henderson Lab, followed by a number of education events. On Wednesday, March 14th, SFJAZZ highlights the Great Jazz Women for its annual Koret Discover Jazz series, featuring appearances by Tammy Hall, Pamela Rose, Linda Tillery and Natalie Cressman. Then on Saturday March 17th, SFJAZZ hosts its 4th annual GirlsDay, a free workshop for girls ages 13-18, and on Saturday, March 24th, Pamela Rose brings her critically acclaimed program "The Blues is a Woman" to the SFJAZZ Center for our Family Matinee.

The contributions of women to the jazz landscape are far-reaching, from the blues, folk music, and the Great American Songbook, through the swing and bebop eras, and beyond. For our Women’s History Month series, we will highlight some of the extraordinary songwriters, composers, and arrangers who not only penned enduring hits, but also stood shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.
