SFJAZZ in your pocket, or in your living room – that’s what you get with the SFJAZZ At Home App. With new content released weekly, sometimes daily, the app makes it very easy to keep up on all the livestreams, on-demand concerts, digital shorts, artist interviews, and educational videos! Here are five tips to help you get the most out of the SFJAZZ At Home app (which you can download here).
1. Get the app on your TV. This is perfect for social gatherings and game nights, folding laundry, or other house chores. If you own a smart TV, you can download the app directly onto your TV via the app store (App Setup Directions). If you don’t own a smart TV, you can still Cast or Airplay from SFJAZZ’s mobile app to most TVs, or by investing in a streaming stick (Roku, Amazon Fire) that plugs into your TV’s HDMI port.
2. Go "audio-only" on your smartphone. Pro tip,: if you lock the screen on your smartphone while playing a video on the app, you’ll switch to audio-only mode. This is great for exercising, cooking, or commuting with headphones or ear buds. You can also plug it in to your car stereo system during your next road trip!
3. Explore content in "Curated For You”. You can certainly browse content on the app by shelf, or with the search bar. However, you’ll also see a “Curated For You” shelf with different filters, such as “Free Content,” “Vocalists,” “Cutting Edge,” “NEA Jazz Masters” and “Artist Talks.” Choose a theme and discover new artists and music!
4. Enable “push notifications” on your smartphone or tablet. You’ll be the first to know when a livestream starts, or when a new episode or concert is available on-demand. If you see a push notification, tapping it will take you right to the video (no need to search for it within the app!). To check if push notifications are enabled, go to the notification settings on your device, find “SFJAZZ At Home” in the display of apps on your device, and make sure notifications are “on.” Download videos on your smartphone or tablet to watch “offline.” If you’re traveling or know you won’t have access to Wi-Fi or data, you can download episodes right onto your device to watch offline. On any video within the mobile or tablet app, you’ll see a button with three vertical dots. Tap the button to download. (You can also make your own playlist, and share the video with a friend.)

P.S. - don’t forget to rate the SFJAZZ At Home app as well! App ratings and reviews are the most important way to make SFJAZZ’s app more discoverable – so it shows up in search results for folks interested in jazz. Every positive rating and review counts and will help grow the SFJAZZ community and support the artists and programs we present.
