“Creating an edgy blend of modern and traditional jazz, Connie Han is pushing the music forward with her own unique vision” (Paste Magazine). The remarkable pianist performs a variety of music including material featured on her newest album, Secrets of Inanna.
A creatively ambitious player, composer and bandleader eager to make her mark, Han, 25, is one of the most exciting and dynamic young pianists to appear on the scene in recent years. Joining the ranks of Los Angeles County High School for the Arts alumni such as pianist Gerald Clayton and vocalist Gretchen Parlato, she released a startlingly mature debut album at 19 with Connie Han Interprets the Richard Rodgers Songbook. She followed up with 2018’s Crime Zone, a film-noir tinged tribute to her keyboard heroes McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Kenny Kirkland.
Following up her 2019 breakthrough Iron Starlet, Han recently released Secrets of Inanna, a spellbinding session of original compositions inspired by the ancient Sumerian goddess of love, beauty and war. Utilizing the Fender Rhodes electric piano, she conjures ethereal soundscapes evocative of 1970s spiritual jazz with a superb band including flutist Katisse Buckingham, saxophonist Rich Perry, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Bill Wysaske.
