Best known to jazz fans as leader of the contemporary jazz ensemble Kilauea, ukulele great Daniel Ho and his trio touch down during the final month of the 2025-26 Season in the Joe Henderson Lab. They perform a selection of music including material from his newest album, Lōkahi: Colors in Harmony

Ho stands as one of the most influential and versatile figures in contemporary Hawaiian music. Born in Honolulu, Ho’s musical journey began with the organ and ukulele before expanding to classical guitar, piano, bass, drums, and voice, reflecting a lifelong passion for musical exploration.

Ho’s early professional success came with the jazz group Kilauea, but his true impact emerged through his pioneering work in slack-key guitar and ukulele, genres he helped bring to global prominence.

As a six-time GRAMMY winner and founder of Daniel Ho Creations, he has produced over 100 albums, collaborating with and uplifting many of Hawaiʻi’s most respected artists. Ho’s music, featured in films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and The Descendants, and his role as a cultural ambassador, have made him a vital conduit for Hawaiian music worldwide. His sincere and innovative artistry, coupled with a commitment to education and cultural preservation, cements Daniel Ho’s legacy as “Hawaii’s greatest contemporary musical ambassador” and a beacon of creativity in world music.
