Kandace Springs

Springs first gained national attention with her 2014 self-titled EP, a hip-hop inflected project that led to performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, appearances at the Afropunk and Bonnaroo festivals, and an invitation to perform with Prince at Paisley Park for the 30th anniversary of Purple Rain. While elated by these opportunities, she started rethinking her musical direction and gravitated toward the jazz and soul-based sounds of her Nashville upbringing.  

Her 2016 full-length debut Soul Eyes was produced by GRAMMY-winner Larry Klein and remains a defiant statement of purpose, embracing both her jazz credentials and pop experience with power and grace. Springs has become yet more artistically assured with each subsequent release. 

Following her revelatory 2024 SRP Records debut Run Your Race comes her fifth and latest, 2025’s Lady in Satin, a loving tribute to the great Billie Holiday that revisits Lady Day’s same-named 1958 album and heartbreaking final statement with fresh arrangements, accompanied by Portugal’s remarkable Orquestra Clássica de Espinho.
