Two instrumentalists at the pinnacle of modern jazz meet for this inspired evening of duets.

“A jazz guitarist of glowing lyricism and graceful exposition” (NY Times), Kurt Rosenwinkel has staked out a singular position in jazz’s firmament as a player, composer and bandleader with a vast and supremely sophisticated harmonic vision and melodic sensibility. He made memorable contributions as part of Gary Burton’s star-making quartet as well as legendary drummer Paul Motian’s Electric Bebop Band and fellow rhythm master Brian Blade’s Fellowship Band, and has released a series of acclaimed albums including his 2001 Verve breakthrough The Next Step and his most recent sessions on his own Heartcore imprint.

Possessing an exquisite touch, astonishing technique, and a sound that somehow combines the dynamic finesse of Ahmad Jamal with the hurtling swing of Oscar Peterson, six-time GRAMMY nominee Gerald Clayton ranks among the very best pianists of his generation. Son of iconic bassist John Clayton, he’s recorded five highly regarded albums, and collaborated with artists including Roy Hargrove, Charles Lloyd, Diana Krall, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Terri Lyne Carrington. His third album for Blue Note, Ones & Twos, represents an innovative approach to acoustic jazz inspired by DJ culture.

Most recently, the pair have performed together to present material from Rosenwinkel’s 2023 duo album A Lovesome Thing.

"Rosenwinkel has come to be just as identifiable as Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell or any of the modern-school guitarists with whom he's usually compared"

JazzTimes

"Relentless creativity and individual expression are two distinct qualities that fuel Gerald Clayton both in life and as a musician"
