Paul Cornish Trio

A pianist and composer best known for his work with Joshua Redman, Paul Cornish sets down in Joe Henderson Lab with his finely minted trio and music from his newest Blue Note release You’re Exaggerating! 

Hailing from the Houston hotbed of jazz talent, and shaped by the rich musical culture of Los Angeles, Paul Cornish has rapidly emerged as one of the most compelling young pianists in contemporary jazz. Equally grounded in gospel, classical music, hip-hop, and modern improvisation, Cornish developed a distinctive voice that balances technical sophistication with emotional openness. After studying at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA and winning the American Jazz Piano Competition in 2018, he went on to perform with major artists including Joshua Redman, Terrace Martin, and Snoh Aalegra, establishing himself as both an imaginative accompanist and a daring bandleader. 

Cornish’s artistry has drawn widespread acclaim for its lyricism, rhythmic elasticity, and fearless harmonic language. His signing to Blue Note Records marked a significant milestone, placing him within one of jazz’s most storied legacies while signaling the arrival of a major new creative force.
