“One of the most lauded jazz vocalists of her generation” (The New York Times), Tierney Sutton is joined in duo by piano great Tamir Hendelman, exploring the trove of American Songbook classics from her latest album SPRING. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Tierney Sutton has earned international acclaim for her luminous tone, emotional depth, and fearless interpretive artistry. A nine-time GRAMMY nominee, Sutton first rose to prominence through her celebrated work with the Tierney Sutton Band, becoming known for inventive reimaginings of jazz standards and tributes to artists including Joni Mitchell and Frank Sinatra. Her recordings have consistently topped jazz charts while showcasing a rare balance of sophistication and intimacy.
Israeli-born pianist Tamir Hendelman is equally revered for his lyrical touch, harmonic brilliance, and dynamic versatility. After moving to Los Angeles as a teenager, Hendelman became a central figure in West Coast jazz, performing with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, and countless leading artists. His elegant playing and sensitive accompaniment have made him one of the most sought-after pianists in contemporary jazz.
Together, Sutton and Hendelman share a profound musical chemistry built on nuance, trust, and spontaneity. Their new duo album, SPRING, offers fresh interpretations of beloved standards, transforming familiar melodies into intimate conversations filled with warmth, wit, and timeless beauty.
