“Creating an edgy blend of modern and traditional jazz, Connie Han is pushing the music forward with her own unique vision (Paste Magazine). The pianist makes her SFJAZZ debut with her empathic trio and music from her newest Mack Avenue album, Iron Starlet.

A creatively ambitious player, composer and bandleader eager to make her mark, Han, 25, is one of the most exciting and dynamic young pianists to appear on the scene in recent years.

Joining the ranks of Los Angeles County High School for the Arts alumni such as pianist Gerald Clayton and vocalist Gretchen Parlato, she released a startlingly mature debut album at 19 with Connie Han Interprets the Richard Rodgers Songbook. Signing to Mack Avenue, she followed up with 2018’s Crime Zone, a film-noir tinged tribute to her keyboard heroes McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Kenny Kirkland.

Named a Steinway Artist in 2019, Han recently released her second Mack Avenue album Iron Starlet, more than living up to her considerable promise with a rhythmically charged session featuring her trio with bassist Ryan Berg and drummer/producer Bill Wysaske.

A decisively brazen talent, with an exhilarating control of her skills and vision and an intimate clairvoyance into all that has come before her.
