In celebration of their West Coast debut, the acclaimed Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra (NYO) jazz ensemble welcomes Bay Area young musicians and families to an interactive Open Soundcheck followed by Q&A. Led by trumpeter Kris Johnson and featuring acclaimed vocalist and NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater, this year’s big band brings together the top young jazz players from around the USA and kicks off their tour of Asia with a one-time-only performance at the SFJAZZ Center.

For this afternoon pre-concert event, we welcome the community to experience the preparations for the program and invite young jazz musicians to engage with their NYO peers in a brief Q&A.
