Contemporary jazz’s premier all-star band

ABOUT THE SFJAZZ COLLECTIVE
SFJAZZ’s resident supergroup, who have composed more than 110 original compositions over the band's 19 years, will be premiering a wide selection of "New Standards" and rearrangements of timeless classics of Billie Holiday, Charles Stepney, Earth, Wind & Fire, Donny Hathaway, Max Roach and more. These exclusive concerts will be recorded and released on a forthcoming album in early 2023.

Under the direction of Chris Potter, this lineup of the Collective featuring Mike Rodriguez, David Sánchez, Warren Wolf, Edward Simon, Matt Brewer, and Kendrick Scott is among the most dynamic ever, with each new composition written with these specific artists in mind.

An all-star ensemble comprising the finest performer/composers at work in jazz today, the SFJAZZ Collective was conceived to create fresh arrangements of works by a modern master and newly commissioned pieces by each member of the band. Through this pioneering approach, simultaneously honoring music’s greatest figures while championing jazz’s up-to-the-minute directions, the Collective has embodied SFJAZZ’s commitment to jazz as a dynamic, ever-evolving art form.
