Original show description below.
“An ebullient, charismatic performer who effortlessly holds the spotlight” (San Francisco Chronicle), Bay Area treasure Pamela Rose is equally known as a superlative jazz singer and blues belter whose Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era shined a much-deserved light on the contributions of women songwriters to the Great American Songbook.
With her soulful style and riveting stage presence, Rose has built an international fanbase through her innumerable performances around the world. She’s released seven acclaimed albums and is a dedicated educator on the faculty of Berkeley’s California Jazz Conservatory who works regularly with the SFJAZZ Education department.
Her most recent project, Blues is a Woman, is a multimedia showcase for the great women of the blues that features Rose and a stellar all-woman band made up of many of the Bay Area’s best. In Rose’s words, “Blues is a Woman blurs the boundaries between concert and theater, using storytelling, rare film footage, and music to bring to life the colorful history of the bold and singular women who wrote and popularized the blues."
The treasured vocalist performs her multimedia showcase of the great women of the blues.
Outstanding vocals… Pamela Rose hits that jazz and soul sweet spot.
