BEHIND SFJAZZ COLLECTIVE’S
“DON’T STOP ‘TIL YOU GET ENOUGH”

"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" is the hit single off Michael Jackson's 'Off The Wall'

"Michael Jackson's music has always touched me because It’s rooted in tradition but at the same time it's utterly its own. I chose 'Don't Stop ’Til You Get Enough' because of the first bass line statement. That pulsing rhythm let’s you know immediately that you’re being driven on an incredible journey. I was also inspired by the homemade demo tape that can be heard on the Off the Wall (Special Edition) recording. The demo provides valuable insight into the way Jackson created the track with the help of his brother and sister. It sounds soulful, raw and has a sense of untouchable purity. I wanted to echo that in my arrangement, which has Haitian petro and Puerto Rican bomba influences."
