ERIC HARLAND'S RHYTHMS OF REVOLUTION
December 17, 2015 | by Ross Eustis
On top of being one of heaviest, most distinct drummers on the scene today, Eric Harland also has a knack for putting music in terms that anyone can relate to, as he does in the video below, demonstrating the rhythmic nature of language.
In his second year as a SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director, Harland presents "Rhythms of Revolution" at the SFJAZZ Center, January 7-10, 2015, pairing his Voyager (Taylor Eigsti, Julian Lage, Walter Smith III, Chris Turner, Harish Raghavan + Snarky Puppy's Keita Ogawa) with soul singer Lee Fields, members of Antibalas, Gil Scott-Heron collaborator Brian Jackson and SFJAZZ Poet Laureate Ishmael Reed.
